Welcome to the website for Holy Trinity Church – the Church at the heart of Potten End village. We are a fun, loving, welcoming and inclusive church with lots going on. This website is a glimpse into what we get up to and how we serve God in the community and beyond.

05/01/20 national lockdown update – in consultation with the Church Wardens, while Holy Trinity is not closed to public worship (we will continue to stream our Sunday 10.30am service from church), as the government advice is to ‘stay at home’, please do not come along in person and join us online. For those who are unable to watch online and really would like to attend church, please get in contact with Rev Joe as there will be limited congregation places available. To view our lived streamed services and to download orders of service, visit the Online Worship page.

During the week Morning and Evening Prayer will be said at 8am and 5.30pm respectively on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. You are welcome to join in person or watch online through our Facebook page. Our 6pm Sunday Evening Prayer according to the Book of Common Prayer will take place via Zoom – please contact Rev Joe or sign up to our weekly email for login details.

In adherence to government guidance and diocesan advice the church is open for private prayer from Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm. We are continuing to ask that people sanitise their hands as they enter and leave, adhere to social distancing, enter their details on the ‘track and trace’ form on the table at the back, wear a face covering and not to come in if they are feeling unwell. Please use common sense!

To keep you connected into our fellowship and worship we are live streaming nigh all our services to our Facebook page and the videos will then be available to view afterwards on our website below. Technology dependent, we are hoping that our Sunday 10.30am service will be available live on the Online Worship page.
Please be assured that we will continue to offer prayer, resources  and support for your journey in faith in this challenging and unprecedented time. For advice regarding mental health click here.
Every blessing, Rev Joe – vicar@holytrinitypottenend.org.uk.

What we do

We are an inclusive community church, where all are warmly welcomed to come and worship with us.  We hold regular Sunday services with Communion, but we also have a range of services in different styles – traditional, All Age Worship, Celtic and even “Messy”!

In addition, we offer weddings, baptisms and funerals.
If you would like to arrange one of these special services, please visit this page.

At Holy Trinity, our vision is to “become an all-age congregation where all are welcome to grow in faith, and to be known for our loving care of the wider community we seek to serve.” (PCC resolution passed).

We also have links with various charities and often have fun social activities to raise funds for our Church and other good causes.

Set in the centre of one of Hertfordshire’s Best Kept Villages, Holy Trinity enjoys a prominent position right at the heart of the community it serves.  The building is Grade II listed, and is in the Conservation Area of the village.  It was built in 1868 and is a fine example of an Italianate Norman Church.  There is also a church room adjacent to the main building which is a lively venue hosting a wide and diverse range of activities.  The population of the parish is 1340 and there are 123 on the Electoral Roll (2018)

Holy Trinity has a mixture of tradition and contemporary services, with elements of both catholic and evangelical spirituality.  Intercessions are regularly led by lay members of the congregation. Children are made very welcome and are actively encouraged to participate and read when they have the confidence to do so.
